Hawks Nest the twin towns of Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens offer 40kms of glorious sun drenched beach as well as the wide protected waters of Port Stephens and the Myall Lakes. These magnificent waterways provide a year round harvest for fisherman as well as excellent swimming, surfing, kayaking, windsurfing and boating opportunities. The beautiful Myall River and Myall Lakes, with easy access from the many boat ramps along the shoreline, offer a real treat for the boating enthusiast. Power boats, windsurfers, catamarans and canoes are available for hire. Dolphins meander up the Myall River every day, and are often spotted at Jimmy’s Beach and Bennett’s Beach, the main surfing beach.

The local ferry connects the towns with Nelson Bay and crosses Ports Stephens daily.

Seafood is plentiful, and if you don’t catch it yourself, there are many outlets to buy it fresh , or indulge, from one of the many café’s, restaurants and clubs. Seafood such as oysters, lobsters, prawns, crabs, squid and a variety of fish are all plentiful in season. The Myall Prawn is a famous delicacy and can be caught by the amateur along the shores and lakes from January to March. Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens offer a wide range of shops, including a major supermarket, butchers, surf shops, takeaways, boutiques, gift shops, pharmacies, marine & camping and more.

The area offers plenty of variety in sporting activities with surf lifesaving, tennis courts, croquet greens, bowling greens, and an all weather golf course – regarded as one of the finest on the coast. With the magnificent Myall Lakes National Park on our boundary, the area boasts many bushwalking trails with ample opportunities for bird watching and koala spotting. In fact, koalas are often found in the trees surrounding many of our holiday properties! Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens are Australia’s best kept secret!

The twin towns of Hawks Nest and Tea Gardens are located approximately 250kms north from Sydney, on tar sealed roads – an easy 2 1/4 hours run brings you to this holiday paradise. Bring the car, bring the boat and bring the family! You can even bring the 4WD and enjoy driving up the beach to your own special spot for the day.
